The Tigo operator uses Sapec's Altum technology in its IP contributions
The majority of television networks in Bolivia are using Sapec equipment, either through their own equipment, renting links from different operators or renting the network and equipment from the Tigo operator.
The Bolivian subsidiary of Tigo, an operator and service provider that extends throughout Central and South America, has acquired equipment from the Altum range of Sapec.
This is a series of MPEG-2 SD/HD encoders and decoders in 4:2:2 that have been launched to offer their clients IP contribution services between several cities such as Cochabamba, Santa Cruz de la Sierra and La Paz.
The project was launched on the occasion of the broadcast of the Carnival festival in the city of Oruro, one of the most important events of the year in Bolivia with satisfactory results for the Broadcasters who have contracted this service from Tigo. According to their own comments, the Altum equipment has improved both the video quality and the delay that they were obtaining previously.
Likewise, the majority of Bolivian television networks are using Sapec equipment, either through their own equipment, renting links from different operators or renting the network and equipment from the Tigo operator.
Sapec was present at the Tigo headquarters in Santa Cruz de la Sierra to give the training course to Tigo engineering staff as well as at some headquarters of the broadcasters that use this equipment for the implementation of this service.
Altum equipment is characterized by its versatility by having dual transport interfaces in both ASI and IP. It has the possibility of working in both MPEG-2 and H.264, SD/HD and 4:2:0/4:2:2 and can be purchased with functionalities such as BISS1/E encryption, DD and DD+ encoding, N+1 redundancy, 16 audio encoding and others that are offered as standard such as subtitle support (Teletext, Closed Caption, OP47), internal pattern generator and network analyzer in the decoder.
Red Uno
On the other hand, Red Uno of Bolivia, one of the main national television channels, has also trusted SAPEC and its Altum range for its IP contribution links after satisfactory tests in which performance was improved with respect to the equipment they previously used, both in image quality and in coding-decoding latency. These devices provide added value in terms of simplicity in configuration and versatility.
