RTVE saves more than 40% bandwidth in its contributions with Sapec's HEVC solution
After various tests carried out with signals in real time, the Corporation expands its contributions between the facilities in Madrid (Torrespaña) and Barcelona (Sant Cugat).
RTVE has chosen a dozen pairs of equipment encoding/decoding video Advantages of Sapec, after various tests carried out with signals in real time, to expand your contributions between the facilities in Madrid (Torrespaña) and Barcelona (Sant Cugat) given the increase in the need for content exchange between the two main cities in the country.
In this way, RTVE once again trusts in Sapec, highlighting the efficiency and video quality of the equipment, thus extending a collaboration of almost two decades, in the contributions between its main headquarters, Territorial Centers and Information Units.
Until now, the algorithm used for these HD signals was only H.264. After this acquisition, Spanish Radio Television start using HEVC (H.265) with Main422 and 10-bit profile, simultaneously with the existing equipment.
With HEVC, RTVE maintains the high video quality of its contributions tosaving more than 40% video bandwidth regarding H.264. The considerable reduction in bandwidth means that RTVE can have more video links without increasing the bandwidth used. Additionally, SAPEC's HEVC (H.265) solution virtually matches the latency of H.264, which is essential for live events.
Sapec was one of the first manufacturers to launch a product on the market with HEVC encoding in Real time, and in 2016 it was awarded, thanks to Avantos, with the Panorama Audiovisual award for the best Technology for Broadcast and Distribution.
