Thinking about applications for air and sea transport, Panasonic Avionics Corporation y Newtec have presented a new satellite modem that promises to offer twenty times more bandwidth than current equipment.

This modem is capable of exceeding 400Mbps, and can scale to meet the changing needs of airlines and their passengers by facilitating the increased bandwidth that will be demanded over the next two years, such as High-Throughput Satellite (HTS) and Extreme Throughput Satellite (XTS) services that continue to overlay Panasonic's existing global network. This will expand network capacity from 2,300 MHz to over 15,000 MHz in 2017.

Tarjeta Newtec-PanasonicThis modem has three demodulators which allows seamless beam switching according to needs and simultaneous reception of data and video. Mx-DMA dynamic bandwidth allocation technology combines the efficiency of SCPC with the dynamic bandwidth allocation capabilities of TDMA to deliver up to 300 percent more data over legacy time division multiple access (TDMA) systems. With support for DVB-S2X, the latest Satcom broadcast standard, and VL-SNR MODCODS, the modem will be optimized for HTS and small VSAT antenna applications, maximizing efficiency and availability.
