Movistar+ incorporates Dolby Digital Plus audio in its HD and on-demand services

For the first time, users of the service will be able to enjoy a surround sound experience similar to that of a movie theater.

Telefónica has incorporated Dolby Digital Plus in Movistar+ television services. For the first time, users of the service will be able to enjoy a theater-like surround sound experience, helping to bring to life any movie, series or television show that has Dolby audio.

The Dolby Audio system is available for both the main programs broadcast on Movistar's HD channels and on-demand content, including series, movies and documentaries. New content with Dolby sound will be gradually added to enhance users' immersive experience.

Roberto Campo Prieto, director of service development at Movistar+, pointed out that "the Dolby Audio system offers users extraordinary realism. The sound surrounds the viewer in their own home, which, combined with Premium content in movies and TV, can provide the user with an exceptional experience."

Andreas Spechtler, regional vice president of EMEA at Dolby, was delighted to "partner with Telefónica to offer rich and detailed sound experiences in the homes of Movistar+ users. Today, consumers are increasingly asking for truly immersive entertainment experiences, for home entertainment. The improved audio now available will help users escape, penetrating the story that is unfolding in front of them."

Movies and TV shows available in Dolby Audio will be easily identified by the presence of a Dolby Audio symbol in the content information and extended information for each channel. To enjoy the Dolby Audio experience, the user must have a home cinema (5.1 or 7.1) or a compatible sound bar.
