Non Stop People turns one year old and prepares its international expansion
The channel aimed at a youth target is preparing its international expansion on OTT platforms to serve other Spanish-speaking markets, such as Mexico or the US.
On June 9, 2015, the first channel made by and for young people, Non Stop People, was launched. The channel, which is broadcast on dial 23 of Movistar+, was born with a firm intention: to provide a different look at the current television offering.
A year later, the channel celebrated its first anniversary with an event held in Madrid and hosted by José Manuel Lorenzo, president of Non Stop People and Antonio San José, director of the channel, who have told first-hand what this first year has been like, the most notable milestones and what the new projects and challenges of the media outlet are.
In these 365 days, Non Stop People has managed to position itself as a reference medium for young audiences both for its content and the way it is told. A television that is committed to the training of young communicators and that deals with all the topics of interest to its target audience from a professional, direct and different approach.
In its strong commitment to the training of journalists, Non Stop People has closed agreements with six national universities for the joint production of its program The Debate, giving the students themselves the opportunity to participate in the creation and implementation of a real television program. In the coming weeks, new higher education centers will be added to this initiative.
During this time, Non Stop People has managed to adapt to new forms of television consumption, such as with its on-demand version on Yomvi, Movistar+'s VOD platform. The channel not only connects with its audience through the television screen, but it does so every day with exclusive content on all its social media profiles such as YouTube, Twitter or Instagram.
A young team
The team of more than 50 young communication professionals has had different challenges to face throughout this first year. Its journalists and cameras have covered more than 600 events, premieres and presentations of all kinds outside the set. They have also received visits from more than 500 well-known faces in the studios from different cultural fields such as music, cinema, theatre, sports, fashion and literature.
But the channel has not only lived on traditional news topics this year, since among its contents other content that is not so common in audiovisual media has stood out, such as video games or social networks, told through its most relevant voices. Gamers, youtubers or viners have stopped by the set daily to chat about the exciting world of the Internet. Likewise, Antonio San José has announced upcoming projects for the new season, in which video games, the gaming world and eSports will be the protagonists.
Looking to the future, and as a novelty, the president and director of the channel announced at the press conference that Non Stop People is preparing its international expansion on OTT platforms to serve other Spanish-speaking markets, such as Mexico or the US.
