Memnon Archiving Services opens new headquarters with an innovative production structure in Evere (Brussels)
The new location will allow the processes to be further industrialized for large-scale digitization of audiovisual files.
In recent years, there has been a considerable increase in demand for historical and original audiovisual content from the audiovisual sector and the broadcast industry, as well as new applications due to the growth of broadband and mobile access for e-Learning and video sharing.
Although these great changes are modifying the way in which information and resources are produced, viewed and managed, our audiovisual heritage is more threatened than ever. Audiovisual files, tapes and films inevitably deteriorate over time, and playback equipment tends to disappear; some manufacturers no longer carry them and skills in this area are in short supply.
To respond to these challenges, Memnon Archiving Services will open this month its new headquarters with a new production structure in Evere (Brussels).
Acquired by Sony on July 1, 2015, Memnon has become a global benchmark, offering digitization services both at its facilities in Brussels and the United States (at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana). It currently exports its services to the United States and the Middle East, although it has begun to explore new markets such as Latin America, Africa and Asia.
As the first tenant of the Flagey building, Memnon has decided to leave Ixelles and move to a completely new and renovated space on Rue du Four à Briques in Evere. The new location is perfect for Memnon to further industrialize processes for large-scale digitization of audiovisual archives that meet the quality needs and expectations of organizations with high-value archives, and achieve the company's growth objectives in the coming years.
The acquisition by Sony means that Memnon is already benefiting from Sony's industrial process and technological expertise. Memnon will move all its operations to the new 1,800 m² headquarters, taking audiovisual file processing tasks to a new level. The digitization capacity of audio and video files will increase considerably with the implementation of new film digitization processes, as well as with the expansion of the service portfolio of the company's research and development center. The new headquarters in Evere will become a new benchmark for its experience in large-scale digitalization.
Over time, this significant investment will allow Memnon to strengthen its position as a global leader in large-scale digitization of audiovisual archives, demonstrating the Sony group's commitment to our customers in preserving content typically created with Sony equipment and the company's development in the Brussels region.
