Odeon Multicines launches the most advanced 4K multiplex in Spain
The complex located in the Sambil Outlet shopping center (Madrid) will have Christie RGB laser projection, Dolby Atmos sound and Christie Vive Audio.
The Spanish exhibition chain Odeon Multicines will install projectors Christie 4K resolution Solaria (including RGB laser cinema projectors) and Christie Vive Audio sound systems in the twelve theaters of its new multiplex in the Sambil Outlet shopping center in Madrid.
Adil Zerouali, director of Cinema for Europe at Christie, assures that “this complex will thus become the most advanced in Spain and the first in the country that will be fully equipped with Christie Vive Audio and Dolby Atmos”.
The operation will be carried out through the companies Ingevideo and Equipo de Cine, which will supply and install all the equipment. The new Sambil Outlet complex, located in the old M-40 shopping center, next to the Madrid ring road, will have a capacity for 2,400 seats. The rooms will occupy an area of 4,500 square meters on the second floor of the commercial area.
Two of the multiplex's rooms will be equipped with the Christie Solaria CP42LH 4K RGB 3DLP laser projector in 3P configuration with a single projection head. Leveraging the Christie Freedom laser lighting platform, the CP42LH produces a color spectrum that goes beyond the DCI P3 color space and matches Rec. 2020.
Various 4K xenon lamp projectors from the Christie Solaria Series will be installed in the rest of the rooms, including the Christie CP4220 model. The projectors will be 3D-ready with a passive system and will use a combination of integrated media blocks (IMBs) from Christie and Dolby.
Christie Vive Audio
The 12 rooms will have the Dolby Atmos sound management system and Christie Vive Audio speakers and amplifiers, which will make Odeon Multicines Sambil Outlet the only multiplex in Spain and the second in Europe with one hundred percent of its screens equipped with these two immersive sound technologies. Christie Vive Audio Class D amplifiers, line array speakers, subwoofers, surround sound speakers and in-ceiling speakers will be used to power the DCI capabilities of Dolby Atmos so every seat has the best sound. The end result will be an exceptional cinematic sound experience renowned for its astonishing power and performance.
Luis Carlos Millán López, owner of Odeon Multicines, explains that "our goal is to always incorporate the latest global technological advances to bring our viewers the best sound and the best image. We had the opportunity to see Christie's RGB laser projection technology and were impressed by its incomparable level of brightness and by the quality and realism of 3D. Now we have decided to take the leap towards lasers in our new complex in Madrid, which will be the most advanced in Spain thanks to the cinematographic technology of leading leaders such as Christie and Dolby.”
Miguel Ángel Piqueras, manager of Ingevideo, acknowledges, for his part, that he is delighted to "be part of an operation of this magnitude. The installation of Christie RGB laser projectors together with the Vive Audio and Dolby Atmos systems will allow Odeon Multicines Sambil Outlet to become the cinema complex with the best image and sound quality in all of Spain and will give it a true competitive advantage in the market."
Marcos Fernández, Christie's director for Spain and Portugal, highlights that "we are especially pleased to participate in a reference project like this. And we feel very honored that Odeon Multicines has recognized the superiority and brilliance of our revolutionary RGB laser projection system. The installation of this system together with Christie Vive Audio and Dolby Atmos will provide viewers with an unforgettable cinematographic experience and will consolidate Odeon Multicines' position as one of the most avant-garde exhibition chains in Europe. Christie has a regional service policy from its regional offices, and from our office in Madrid we are going to offer Odeon Multicines complete training and support.”
