Hypermux: Eurovision launches one of the most advanced multiplex platforms
Hypermux is a highly versatile platform capable of simultaneously handling two data and video streams, from SD to 4K, improving network efficiency, flexibility and security.
Eurovision has launched the largest and most advanced multiplex contribution platform as part of a major upgrade for the future of its global satellite network.
This platform called Hypermux, which was launched last Tuesday in the Asian and American segments of the Eurovision network, is a unique solution, designed by the UER which significantly increases network efficiency, flexibility and security. Eurovision intends to deploy Hypermux across its European network in the coming months.
Deployed in just three months, Hypermux substantially increases the transmission capacity of the Eurovision satellite transponders by more than 50 percent, also gaining great flexibility in terms of managing data and video sources.
EBU Network Director Graham Warren has stated that Hypermux is miles ahead of any other multiplex solution in the satellite broadcasting industry today, and will benefit all players in the Eurovision network. Not only does Hypermux increase the amount of content we can carry, but it also does so in a more efficient and secure way. Hypermux is also more resistant to satellite interference, simplifying the implementation of agreements with clients when handling all types of video and data.”
