Eurovision launches a “Plan B” for its festival
A special program, which will replace the broadcast of the edition canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, will remember the 41 songs of the 65th edition and will feature the participation of Blas Cantó, Spanish representative.
After the cancellation of the 65th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest due to the coronavirus, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) prepare a special which will pay tribute to this year's participating songs.
RTVE has already joined this initiative that will serve to highlight the values of the festival and offer a message of unity and hope to citizens.
It will be in Europe shine a light, a non-competitive program full of surprises for fans and viewers of the contest around the world that La 1 will broadcast on May 16 at 9:00 p.m.
The EBU, together with the Dutch broadcasters NPO, NOS and AVROTROS, will perform a show that will remember the 41 songs that were going to compete this year in Rotterdam in a program that will be presented by Chantal Janzen, Edsilia Rombley (Eurovision 1998 and 2007) and Jan Smit. The Spanish representative of 2020, Blas Cantó, will participate in this tribute with his song Universe.
Europe shine a light It will also try to bring together all the artists of this edition from their countries to perform together hits from the history of Eurovision whose lyrics are inspiring for the current situation in which we find ourselves.
RTVE has already announced that it will participate in 2021 with Blas Cantó in the European competition, the largest musical show on television that attracts 200 million viewers from all over the world every year.
