To date, users could only include videos with a maximum duration of 30 seconds.

Video on Twitter

If first there were 140 characters and later the 30-second videos, now the Twitter platform will allow you to include videos of up to 140 seconds.

The new limit of two minutes and 20 seconds will also apply to Vine, where previously only six-second content was allowed to be uploaded.

On its blog, Twitter has noted that "starting today, you will have more room to unleash your creativity on Twitter. If videos were previously limited to 30 seconds, now anyone can create video tweets up to 140 seconds long."

The company based in San Francisco (United States) has also launched the mobile application, Twitter Engage, to publish the videos, although it will be available so far only in the US and only for iOS phone users.

On the other hand, Twitter will allow video uploaders to monetize their content on Vine. The site will use Twitter's Amplify Open program, which offers a pre-roll before content.
