Genelec Introduces AES67-Compatible 8430 SAM IP Studio Monitor
The new Genelec 8430 monitor is set to become the essential tool for IP network audio systems in recording studios, post-production, digital editing rooms, radio and television.
Genelec has taken a giant step in the adoption of IP in audio networks with the launch of the new 8430 monitor. This monitor is set to become the essential tool for IP network audio systems in recording studios, post-production, digital editing rooms, radio and television.
The 8430 is the culmination of many years of intensive research and development by Genelec in AoIP technology.
Siamäk Naghian, general director of Genelec, assures that the manufacturer believes that "audio over IP networks, using systems fully compatible with open global standards, is the correct, reliable and solid way to face the future needs of the professional audio market. By presenting the 8430 we are one step closer to this reality."
"With the technological advances that have been made in this field and the clear interest in AoIP that has been expressed by broadcast professionals and other customers, we believe that there is potential for a well-designed monitor that provides all the advantages and high performance that IP networks can offer. We believe that the 8430 is precisely that monitor and we predict an enthusiastic reception from the audio community. Audio over IP is no longer the future of monitoring, it is the present," adds Naghian.
The 8430 combines exceptional connectivity options. It is possible to input the signal to the monitor in AES67 format, the industry AoIP standard, through the RJ45 connector housed in an XLR or it is also possible to input a standard analog signal through a balanced XLR connector. As a product belonging to Genelec's SAM series, the 8430 shares identical electroacoustic characteristics, such as MDE and DCW technologies, a flow-optimized reflex port, extremely low distortion, high SPL and a very wide frequency response, devoid of any type of coloration; all this in a very compact enclosure.
Additionally, as a member of the SAM series, the 8430 is also compatible with the intuitive Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM 2.0) control software, which allows you to adjust all the monitor's operating parameters and exercise complete control over the monitoring system. As a core part of GLM, intelligent AutoCal technology improves monitoring accuracy by compensating for deficiencies in the listening environment. After an automatic calibration, based on one or more listening positions, all components in the System reproduce at the same level, eliminating all acoustic colorations from the monitors' response, leaving sound with superb consistency and a neutral sound image.
