For the first time, users of Genelec SAM systems will be able to access GLM cloud services anywhere, anytime, providing secure backup and instant access to the latest program updates.

Genelec GLM 3.0

After revolutionizing active monitoring for more than a decade with the development of GLM (Genelec Loudspeaker Manager) monitor control software, the ongoing research process of Genelec has led to the introduction of GLM 3, which incorporates beta cloud services and baseline tuning.

For the first time, users of Genelec SAM systems will be able to access GLM cloud services anywhere, anytime, providing secure backup and instant access to the latest program updates. The new reference level features have been developed in response to international broadcast standards, which require calibration of listening levels to enable programs to be interchangeable across different listening conditions.

Since its introduction, GLM software has helped audio professionals automatically calibrate, under Mac and PC platforms, their Genelec SAM monitor systems, providing performance fully optimized for their acoustic environment.

GLM 3 will allow each registered user to use both the on-premises option and the cloud beta service, with the ability to switch between the two. The cloud service offers space to store three full system calibrations, each with 10 groups, for a total of 30 acoustic settings, while online help will enable users to send their GLM files to expert support and advice.

The new Reference Level functionality allows users to calibrate listening levels according to EBUR128 and ATSC A/85 loudness standards, combining system alignment and in-situ frequency response compensation with listening level calibrated to a specific loudness reference. GLM 3 now provides this essential feature, without the need to add an external high-quality monitor controller or other measurement tools.

Additionally, since a predictable frequency response is key in reference monitoring, GLM 3 also incorporates new customization features, making it easy for the user to customize their desired response from the ideal flat response, without sacrificing predictability.

Other notable improvements include the ability to adjust the sensitivity of the ISS power saving function of each Genelec monitor, a microphone level checker, and an indicator of the type of audio used, in addition to other improvements, interaction boxes, and miscellaneous fixes. GLM 3 also includes a simple firmware update system that allows all SAM monitors to enable these new features instantly.

Genelec 7380 SAM

Subwoofer insignia 7380 SAM

The new flagship of the SAM line of subwoofers, it can be easily integrated into any monitor system (stereo or multichannel), as well as be part of large format 3D immersive sound installations, easily providing performance normally associated with much larger venues. Equipped with a new Class-D amplification section plus all the benefits of SAM technology, the 7380 has been designed to exceed the requirements of the most demanding professionals in music production, post-production, film and TV.

Additionally, the 7380 partners perfectly with “The Ones”, Genelec's 3-way coaxial monitor series, especially in immersive system setups for those working with Dolby Atmos, Auro-3D or DTS:X formats.

Measuring just 685mm high, 718mm wide and 492mm deep, the 7380 houses an 800W Class-D amplifier driving a custom 15-inch woofer that, together with Genelec's acclaimed LSE coil enclosure, produces an impressive 119 dB maximum sound pressure level (123 dB peak), plus precise low-frequency response down to 16 Hz.

The addition of Genelec's renowned SAM technology places the 7380 at the heart of the family of smart monitors and subwoofers that make up Genelec's extensive range. With the GLM program for PC or Mac, you can network up to 40 Genelec SAM monitors and subwoofers, work with different instantaneous load configurations, and benefit from advanced auto-calibration features that include level adjustments, arrival time and phase alignment, as well as frequency adjustment. GLM users benefit from extensive room compensation capabilities including an adjustable cutoff frequency and 20 parametric notch filters, ensuring that the 7380 can be optimized for the best possible performance, even in the most complex acoustic environments.

It is important to note that GLM also allows you to configure both centralized and decentralized bass management systems, depending on the type of monitors used, guaranteeing compatibility with previous Genelec models and even with other analog systems.

Therefore, the 7380 is also effective in a non-SAM environment. A complete set of DIP controls, easily accessible on the front panel, allow an independent work mode incorporating the main adjustment features, including advanced calibration for hybrid systems where traditional monitors are used. In standalone mode, the crossover frequency is fixed at 85 Hz.

For those working with multi-channel audio, the 7380 provides 7.1 channels of input and output via XLR, plus an AES/EBU digital connection that can be used to work in stereo or to form a complete 7.1 digital solution by adding Genelec's optional 9301 digital interface.
