RTVE deploys LiveU's IP cloud services

Spanish Radio Television has resorted to LiveU to provide you with the IP link technology and cloud-based services you need to improve your content contribution capabilities and production efficiency.

The Corporation has acquired a large number of units that will be located in national and international capitals around the world, including Europe, Asia and America.

Given the scale of the project, with more than 150 units supplied, including LU800 multicamera, LU300S compact and mobile applications LU-Smart, along with multiple instances of LiveU Ingest for the automatic recording and metadata tagging of stories, RTVE carried out an in-depth examination of the capabilities of the technologies. In addition to LiveU and RTVE, the participation of LiveU's local partner, Sinopsys Integral Distribution (SDI), was critical to the success of the project.

Our EcoSystem enables our clients to think and work differently by providing highly cost-effective and flexible ways to collect and process content. This, in turn, greatly enhances the viewer experience, allowing for more and varied news and sports from across the country and internationally to be picked up.”

The chain has four large production centers: two in Madrid, one in Barcelona and one in the Canary Islands. RTVE's Torrespaña center in Madrid serves as the main hub and is where most signals pass through and therefore hosts a significant number of servers, including LiveU Ingest. These main centers represent approximately 50% of the field units. Each main center also has LiveU Video Return technology installed, which allows field crews to instantly see what is being broadcast.

Furthermore, each of the regional centers in the 17 Autonomous Communities He regularly contributes news and live sports. Every field unit benefits from the inclusion of LiveU Intercom and DataBridge capabilities. In December 2022, RTVE sent units to its correspondents around the world for the compilation of international contents.

Llames adds that “we have worked very closely with SDI to secure this important and exciting deal for RTVE.
