AEQ joins the OCA Alliance for the implementation of the AES 70 standard
AEQ announces its adherence to OCA as a way to promote the unified control of equipment from different manufacturers, based on the protocol described in the AES 70 standard.
AEQ has announced at IBC 2016 its decision to join the OCA Alliance platform for the standardization of professional audio equipment network control systems based on the AES 70 standard of the Audio Engineering Society.
Miguel Sancho, director of R&D at AEQ, has highlighted that "AEQ has always been concerned with giving the greatest compatibility to its equipment to create ecosystems suitable for its clients. In our professional audio sector there are organizations such as AES and EBU that advocate interoperability between all manufacturers. Thus, when AEQ focuses on the compatibility of control protocols and the choice of the path to follow for the joint control of audio equipment under IP protocols, we observe several proprietary approaches, some open to others. manufacturers, others simply exclusive and closed.”
“On the other hand, we observe a group of manufacturers only concerned about interoperability at the service of users under the supervision of AES, who have finally worked in the X210 working group in the development of the common standard that must govern all manufacturers, AES 70,” adds Sancho.

“We are also going to try to facilitate the unified control of the previous equipment, both from AEQ and from any other manufacturer that is willing to provide the information on their control protocol,” concludes Miguel Sancho.
