Among the new features regarding the Shogun Flame version, the possibility of RAW recording from ARRI and Panasonic LT cameras stands out.

Atomos Shogun Inferno

atoms has begun marketing its new Atomos Shogun Inferno recorder/monitor with support for collecting images at 4K at 60p. The highlight is that it will allow RAW recording from ARRI and Panasonic LT cameras.

Its display offers 1500 nits while the recorder allows you to collect HDMI and SDI signals directly from the camera sensor to 4:2:2 10-bit ProRes or DNxHR files up to 4K at 60p or HD at 240p. RAW recording can be done over SDI up to 4K at 30p to CDNG, ProRes or DNxHR format.

Shogun Inferno now allows you to capture compatible ARRI and Panasonic RAW HDR recordings for playback on HDR displays. Varicam users, who already have the internal ProRes recording capability of the Atomos, will now be able to record RAW externally as a CDNG file on the Shogun Inferno.

As far as HDR luminance standards are concerned, the equipment allows PQ and HLG playback and supports these same inputs for HDR grading of non-linear editions or cameras such as Grass Valley, RED, ARRI (PQ) and Ikegami (HLG) with output for HDR monitors in studio and live environments. In addition, HDR parameters can be stored as metadata, facilitating subsequent grading of the material.

Another aspect worth highlighting is the possibility of creating a playlist with the recorded material, being able to use the unit as a 4K player to feed screens at any event or studio.
