A professional committee chooses the first Iris Jury Awards awarded by the TV Academy
'Clandestino' by David Beriain (DMax), 'Virtuosos' (La 2 de TV), 'El secreto de Puente Viejo' (Antena 3 TV), the Ángel Plana specialist school, Noticias Cuatro 20h's coverage of the refugee crisis (Cuatro) and 'Merlí' (TV3) have been the programs and professionals recognized with the new awards from the Television Academy.
The professional committee in charge of deliberating the first Iris Jury Awards granted by the Television Academy has been made up of the Academy's Talent Awards: Jorge Salvador, Pedro Ricote and Francisco Díaz Ujados. Also participating, representing the Board of Directors of the Academy, were Valentín Carrera, Rafael Galán and Tacho de la Calle.
The Television Academy Awards Ceremony will be held on November 23. That day we will meet the winners in the categories chosen by the academics before a Notary. In addition, journalist Paloma Gómez Borrero will collect the Lifetime Award for her professional career and channel #0 will receive the Iris Critics Award.
Iris Jury Awards
- David Beriain's Clandestino team (DMAX) for the vital risk and professional courage of producing a high-quality documentary series with social commitment for television.
- Virtuosos (TVE's La 2) for taking on the challenge of bringing to the small screen in an educational way a talent that shows the values that are transmitted with classical music.
- El Secreto de Puente Viejo (Antena 3) for contributing to the promotion, development and strengthening of the Spanish audiovisual industry by creating a content factory that generates 1.1 episodes a day and for being a pool of professional talent that has already crossed borders, also becoming an international success.
- The Ángel Plana school of specialists for being a pioneer in the training and development of a risky profession that is not very visible but transversal between networks and production companies.
- Miguel Ángel Oliver's Noticias Cuatro coverage of the refugee crisis for its rigor and sensitivity in the treatment of information.
- Merlí (TV3) for bringing philosophy and thought closer to society through fiction and for its international recognition.
