Precise calibration in 4K HDR, a key to take into account
AVCast exhibits SpectraCal technology for calibration of all types of monitors at the 4K-UHD Summit, including the new reference equipment for HDR.
AVCast has gone to the 4K-UHD Summit of Seville to present the calibration software SpectraCal for all types of broadcast, professional, display, videowall, LED or even home theater monitors (with projector calibration).
In this case it is exhibited acting on the new Canon 4K HDR reference monitor (DP-V2410). CalMAN is already prepared to calibrate all HDR variants with the possibility of generating test signals and has a probe ready to recognize high dynamic range.
Jesús Esteban, director of AVCast, has highlighted that “in HDR monitors, calibration is more important because there is a very large dynamic range and if the correct signal is not presented, the distortion is much greater.”
Another important aspect of this tool is that, in a production or post-production environment, we can really know what signal we are working with and verify that what we see on the monitor really corresponds to the native signal, being able to measure the difference. The tool, together with the probe, makes it possible to measure with much more precision than the human eye is capable of, thus avoiding critical errors in the studio, film set or post-production.
