The ICAA presents the second edition of 'Shorts from Spain'

The catalog that the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts will disseminate in markets, festivals and international exhibitions includes the best Spanish short films.

For the second consecutive year the ICAA publishes Shorts from Spain, a selection of 10 short films that represent the best of Spanish short films.

It is a catalog that the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts will disseminate in markets, festivals and international exhibitions. Your first stop is Clermont Ferrand, one of the largest international markets dedicated to short films and which has had a Spanish stand again since last year.

This catalog is commissioned by the ICAA to the short film associations: The New Directors Platform (PNR), the Short Film Industry Association (AIC) and the Short Film Coordinator, which create an external, specialized and different committee each year, to make a selection that is as diverse, plural and essential as possible. And with a single maxim: that the 10 finalists represent the best of the short film.

The short films that are eligible only have to be qualified in the year prior to the edition and have been registered for the Goya awards.

The short films Shorts From Spain 2016 garner many selections at national and international festivals such as the Berlinale, Mar de Plata, Toronto or the Montreal World Film Festival in Canada, as well as several nominations for the Goya and Cartoon D'Or awards.

And they have won great awards such as: the Goya award, several awards at the Malaga Festival, best Spanish fiction short film at the Huelva Ibero-American Festival, best short film at the Gijón International Film Festival, Aguilar de Campoo international festival, Madrid short film awards, awards at the Lyon festival, the Barcelona festival, and best short film at the Madrid Film Festival, among others.

The final format is DVD, Bluray, and for the first time a QR code has been incorporated so that the short films can be viewed instantly by professionals interested in the selection.

There has also been created a web where you can find information on the different short films, watch their trailer and contact the associations for any request.

Last year, an agreement was also reached with AECID (the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation) to program the shorts in different Embassies and Cervantes Institutes around the world. Agreement that is expected to continue.
