The German HD+ operator puts TVKey to the test

This solution developed by Samsung and Nagra, and similar to a simple USB, allows users to access pay television services without the need for an external set-top box.

The German operator HD+, a subsidiary of SES, will be the first to test the solution developed by Samsung y Nagra, TVKey. Similar to a simple USB, this device connected to the television allows the user to access pay television services without the need for a set-top box.

During a promotional period, those who purchase a Samsung smart TV at participating dealers in Germany will receive the HD+ TVkey for free. This also entitles them to six months of free HD+ subscription, which upon expiration can be converted to a regular subscription.

Hyogun Lee, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, was delighted to be part of the first commercial launch of TVKey. "By being the first company to launch TVKey, HD+ is showing some leadership in the market. This new technology can be implemented in a way that benefits operators and new television customers," he stated.

This device has the latest content protection technology developed by Nagra for both 4K and HDR content. Furthermore, its ease of installation will allow operators to easily increase the number of subscribers while reducing the cost of customer acquisition.
