Telecinco prepares 'Living without permission', the first series of Alea Media
The new fiction bet for the next season is based on an idea by Manuel Rivas and is the first projector from Aitor Gabilondo's production company owned by Mediaset España.
The ruthless struggle to seize power in a Galician family saga that will lead to the gradual decline of Nemo Bandeira, its patriarch, suffering from Alzheimer's, will be the plot axis of Live without permission, one of Telecinco's big fiction bets for the next season. A project in which Mediaset España once again joins forces with the producer, screenwriter and showrunner Aitor Gabilondo and whose artistic cast will be headed by Jose Coronado and Álex González, the leading couple of The Prince, who on this occasion will play antagonist roles.
Live without permission It is the first series from Alea Media, a production company owned by Mediaset España, and has been created by Gabilondo himself (The Prince, Journalists, The Commissioner) from an original idea by the writer Manuel Rivas (The carpenter's pencil, The tongue of the butterflies), holder of the National Fiction Prize and the Torrente Ballester Prize, among many other awards.
The beginning of filming Live without permission It is planned for this coming summer, in various natural settings in Galicia.
A great family tragedy
Live without permission It is a story of passions, rivalries and competing interests within a family saga, with the world of Galician drug trafficking as a background, in which emotional and personal plots are combined with violent and shocking moments typical of thrillers.
The plot focuses on the story of 'Nemo' Bandeira, (Jose Coronado), a powerful drug trafficker who has managed to whitewash his career and become the most influential businessman in Galicia through a prestigious textile company, who at the height of his power is diagnosed with Alzheimer's. He will try to hide his illness so as not to appear vulnerable while he starts the process to choose his successor, which causes an earthquake in the family. His two legitimate sons, who have never had any interest in business, suddenly try to prove that each one is the most suitable candidate. His godson, the brilliant lawyer Mario Mendoza (Álex González), is objectively the most prepared, although he lacks something vital: carrying the same blood as his godfather. Knowing that Nemo does not see him as heir to the empire, he will implement his own plan without abandoning his charming smile, which will make him the most dangerous and ruthless of his enemies.
Manuel Rivas has highlighted that “this story has its origin in my novel Everything is silence. However, what I wanted from this story was for it to be something new, even if it had roots and a memory. But memory is nothing if we do not fertilize it with the imagination and it has been this that has given rise to a totally new story, which takes place in another time and with other characters."
Regarding the thesis of the story, the Galician author has explained that "here good and evil compete, which are not outside the human being as abstractions, but are inside and make alchemies that are modified. Good and evil compete, but in this story being free or not being free also competes. That is why we are talking about Live without permission“.
For Aitor Gabilondo, creator of the series, Live without permission It is one of the best ideas I have ever been told, the story of a great man with a serious original sin who is unexpectedly attacked by Alzheimer's, one of society's great collective fears. I think it is very brave to tackle a story of this type, especially putting the disease on an evil man who, as he loses his memory, has to review the good and bad things he did. Nemo Bandeira is one of the best characters I have had the chance to read and I am sure that Coronado is going to make him a memorable character. At his side there will be a protagonist-antagonist, Álex González, who has the best rogue smile in Spain and who is sure to brilliantly compose that 'charming son of a bitch' who confronts Nemo in the shadows.'
In this sense, Arantxa Écija, director of Fiction at Mediaset España, has remarked: "we have brought together a great narrator with a great atmosphere, a powerful conflict, a very solvent producer and some wonderful performers. All these elements make this series a sure success project."
