Blackmagic shows its latest proposals for capture and finishing in Madrid
On June 13, 14 and 15, Blackmagic Design opens a temporary space in the heart of Madrid in which it shows some of its latest developments such as version 14 of the DaVinci Resolve editing, grading and post-production system or its Micro Panel and Mini Panel panels. In one set, professionals can test the different versions and configuration options of the popular Ursa cameras.
In the heart of Madrid's Malasaña neighborhood, Blackmagic Design It opens from this Tuesday, June 13, and until Thursday the 15th, a temporary space in which it is showing some of its latest developments.
On one set, the Australian manufacturer is carrying out demonstrations that highlight the potential of the URSA Mini Pro camera. On these days it is possible to see this camera in configurations for ENG (with a Canon d3 18-80 lens) or for studio, including the Blackmagic URSA Studio viewfinder and a Canon 24×7.5 optic.
This digital cinema version for professionals combines exceptional image quality with the features and controls of a traditional studio camera. It has ergonomic side controls that allow you to easily modify settings without taking your eyes off the action.
It also includes neutral density filters, a screen and a revolutionary interchangeable mount that offers the possibility of using EF, PL or B4 lenses. On the other hand, it records at a maximum speed of 60 f/s and has two slots for UHS-II cards and another two for C-Fast 2.0 cards. Its lightweight design not only offers great comfort, but also facilitates all-day use, and the image quality obtained is significantly superior to that of other much more expensive cameras.
We can also see the new Blackmagic URSA Mini 4.6K in cinema configuration using a Schneider Kreuznach Cine Xenar III optic.
DaVinci Resolve
These Blackmagic conferences in Madrid are dedicating special attention to DaVinci Resolve, now in its v14. This version is ten times faster and includes innovative tools for Fairlight quality audio editing, grading and post-production processes, as well as multi-user collaboration options.
The new version includes hundreds of features for editors, colorists and, now, sound technicians. The new playback engine dramatically increases responsiveness, delivering vastly improved performance for editors. Likewise, the program offers an innovative module with tools for Fairlight quality audio post-production. These allow you to record, edit, mix, improve and master them, with a three-dimensional sound space and a maximum of 1000 channels. On the other hand, colorists have exceptional optimized filters that include automatic facial recognition and tracking functions to modify the appearance of different features.
In turn, DaVinci Resolve 14 features innovative tools for carrying out collaborative projects between multiple users, such as a chat, locking folders and combining timelines. In this way, different professionals can participate in the same project simultaneously. Thanks to all these features, DaVinci Resolve 14 is the most sophisticated program in the field of audiovisual post-productions.
Those who pass by Blackmagic's temporary space in Madrid these days will also be able to learn about the new DaVinci Resolve Micro Panel and DaVinci Resolve Mini Panel and, at the same time, participate in one of the free training courses organized by the Australian manufacturer. These workshops will be held twice a day, lasting three hours. These practical workshops with Resolve have raised such expectations that places were sold out in just a few days.
Resolve and Fairlight integration
In other demonstration areas we can see the possibilities that Resolve now offers with a direct integration with Fairlight. Now, for the first time, image and sound processing are integrated into a single application, giving professionals all the tools necessary to collaborate and create feature films and television programs that will be remembered by future generations.
DaVinci Resolve 14 introduces a new module called Fairlight, which includes a wide variety of tools for recording and editing audio, mixing, enhancing content, putting finishing touches, and mastering the result. The cutting-edge processor has extremely low latency and sub-millisecond accuracy, and has been designed to support up to 1,000 audio tracks with a 192 kHz, 24-bit sampling rate. There is no other program that is similar in this sense.
On the other hand, the Fairlight audio accelerator offers the possibility of significantly improving system performance. In this way, it is possible to achieve a latency of less than one millisecond on all 1000 tracks and process the parameters of the equalizer, expander, compressor and limiter, as well as obtain up to six VST plugins in real time per channel.
This integration allows the creation of complex compositions in various delivery formats, the automation of any type of parameters and plugins; recording dialogue, voice-over and room effects; advanced monitoring with greater flexibility to choose multiple speaker groups; and the possibility of working with spatial audio formats with cutting-edge technology, including three-dimensional sound such as 5.1, 7.1, DTS, Dolby or even 22.2.
