Weissenburger takes over from David McIntosh, who from now on will be in charge of Sony's sports division, which includes the technological innovator Hawk-Eye.

Sony Professional Solutions Europe (PSE) has appointed Damien Weissenburger to head the company's growing film solutions business, serving cinema chains and independent screen owners.

Weissenburger assumes this new position as business manager of Sony Digital Cinema 4K, while fulfilling his current responsibilities as business manager of solutions for the corporate and educational sector. He will oversee strategic growth plans for these two independent business entities from the United Kingdom.

The executive commented that he will build on the "great work that David McIntosh has done, as Sony's cinema business moves into the next exciting phase of growth. By making the most of Sony's synergies, I believe we can develop innovative presentation solutions that will shape the future of cinema exhibition. An example of this is Crystal LED, our large screen display technology, which is presented here at CineEurope. It is an exciting idea for a possible future of digital cinema, one in which it is possible! that we don't even need to use projectors!”

Sony occupies a unique position in the film industry, not forgetting that it is also an entertainment company with a Hollywood film studio. "More than any other electronics manufacturer, we understand the importance of creating incredible images that establish emotional connections with viewers. I am delighted to be able to focus on improving our innovation capabilities in Europe to continue offering our customers and exhibition partners the best possible visual experience," he concludes.

In this way, Damien takes over from David McIntosh, who from now on will be in charge of Sony's sports division, which includes the technological innovator Hawk-Eye and the specialist Pulselive in sports content solutions. More details about David's new role will be released in July.
