iCat returns to FM after five years with exclusive Internet broadcast

The music and culture channel of the Catalunya Ràdio group of stations can now be heard on FM in a test broadcast.

After almost five years, iCat has returned to FM in a testing period since August 1. On Wednesday, September 6, its regular broadcast will begin and the new season will premiere with renewed programming.

The music and culture channel of the Catalunya Ràdio group of stations can now be heard on FM almost five years after its disappearance from the airwaves and its exclusive broadcast for the internet.

The new iCat that will be released in September will include more music from the Catalan scene, both sung in Catalan and in other languages; new cultural programs dedicated to cinema, series, theater and literature; spaces for musical genres such as jazz, folk, fusion and electronic, and also a new children's/youth musical program.

The different iCat FM repeaters will be put into operation progressively during August, the month in which the necessary adjustments will be made for regular broadcasting. In this way, the long demand of listeners and cultural agents for iCat to return to FM is materialized, an objective set by the new management, headed by Saül Gordillo, and the Department of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia.
