Ikegami has closed a distribution agreement with Snell Advanced Media (SAM) for EMEA, Americas, APAC, CIS and most Asian countries. This agreement will include 12G-SDI solutions, IP connectivity and routing products that offer Ikegami camera teams greater freedom in system implementation.

For example, SAM's IQMIX modular range includes high-density 25GbE, 40GbE and 50GbE IP/SDI transceiver modules that provide dual Ethernet ports for redundant configurations, PTP synchronization and support for SMPTE ST 2022-6, VSF TR04 and VSF TR03 flow types, including SMPTE ST 2110, when ratified. SAM's range of production mixers will also be available at Ikegami, including the enterprise-grade Kahuna series and the Kula 1-3 M/E range.

Vincent Eade, Director of Channel Management and Marketing at SAM, was very pleased to "partner with such a renowned imaging technology company as Ikegami. 4K and HDR are driving the broadcast media industry to new levels of quality, and the reality of IP is opening up a wide arena of new workflows that content producers are adopting."

Naoki Kashimura, Director of Product Strategy and Marketing at Ikegami, highlights that "SAM has an excellent reputation for both quality and innovation. We have conducted extensive testing to ensure operational compatibility between the UHK-430 camera system and SAM products. With 12G-SDI, 4K bandwidth can be distributed over a single cable for distances up to 100 meters. IP links further expand that capability, giving broadcasters and production companies the freedom to position and control cameras anywhere in the world for applications such as remote news production or live event broadcasting.”

The Ikegami UHK-430 camera employs three newly developed 2/3-inch CMOS sensors, providing ultra-high resolution 3840 x 2160 resolution and the depth of field required for full-quality studio and outdoor production. The camera is highly expandable with optional features such as simultaneous 4K and HD outputs plus HD crop selection of the 4K image. These allow easy migration from HD to 4K live production. Network control can be performed through the camera's Gigabit Ethernet data port. This can be supplemented with IP and 12G-SDI interface cards.
