The Catholic University of Murcia improves its facilities with Blackmagic
Digital Mira updates the UCAM production study with Blackmagic technology that reproduces the environment and workflows of a real study in order for students to have the opportunity to produce a wide range of content with Broadcast quality.
The Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM) has improved the facilities of its production study used for the practices of its audiovisual communication students deploying a workflow based on solutions from Blackmagic Design including their study cameras and the popular ATEM mixers.
The update, completed by Digital Mira, tries to reproduce the environment and workflows of a real study in order for students to have the opportunity to produce a wide range of content with Broadcast quality, from news to interview and entertainment programs. In addition to an 180 m² production study, the UCAM facilities also include three editing rooms and a DSNG unit, also equipped with a ATEM production mixer 1 m/e 4K.
Prepared for 4k
José María Ibáñez, from Mira Digital, points out that “although university students are producing HD quality content, we knew that very soon, the requirement of Ultra HD 4K would be necessary, so when the UCAM approached us to move from an analog environments to a digital study, Blackmagic solutions guaranteed a future proof investment”.
UCAM students can produce their programs, with whom they will enrich their portfolio, with four Blackmagic study cameras equipped with Lumix lenses and mounted on tripods. The study also has a green chroma in which they can experiment with chromakey effects and live graphics insertion. All video production is handled through an ATEM production mixer 1 m/e 4K.
Jorge Hernández Bellot, by the UCAM, emphasizes that “although the students' work is not normally broadcast, the facilities can also be used for personal projects, which can include live broadcasts. We also produce live programs for our local television channel, popular TV region of Murcia, in order for students to really have an excellent basis in television production”.
Both the students and the team in charge of the UCAM audiovisual studies have been impressed by the results that Blackmagic infrastructure gives them. "Students love that the same team is being used that could be found in professional studies around the world, so once they start their careers, they are not only accustomed to the workflows of a professional television, but the quality of their work is at the same high level. The robust design of the kit means that we have an extremely reliable study that students can use all day, every day and achieve fantastic results,"
