Production companies from Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia present their new projects to more than 950 European animation professionals. The professional meeting that will take place in Toulouse from September 11 to 14 selects a total of 82 animation series projects.

Spanish animation is once again present at Cartoon Forum, the co-production platform for European animation series, which is celebrating its 28th edition in the French city of Toulouse from September 11 to 14. With four of the 82 projects selected, the country is represented by productions developed by studios in Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia.

Presented by the Valencian Hampa Studios (Talking Tom), Colorics is a 3D animated comedy written by Gallego Bros and directed by Alex Cervantes. Aimed at preschool audiences, the series is co-produced by TVE.

ColoricsDesigned for children between 3 and 6 years old, Crayons, Let’s Play! es una serie que combina animación 3D con imagen real dirigida por Carlos Lascano. El proyecto es una producción española de B.Water Animation Studios, Dreamlife Studio y GHC&A (Francia) justo a France Televisions.

For its part, El Recreo from Madrid comes with Byron & The Flea, a 2D series developed by this studio that in 2011 presented the series at this European forum Mr.Trance.

The Spanish participation is completed with DinoGames, a series of adventures that takes place in the world of virtual reality and video games created by the Catalan Dream Team Concept (“Memoirs of a man in pajamas”).

The series will be presented to more than 950 distributors, television and VoD networks and potential international partners and investors from 33 countries with the aim of obtaining co-producers and promoting their international distribution, both inside and outside Europe.

Spanish animation will also be present at the Cartoon Tributes, annual awards that recognize the contribution of the main protagonists of the animation industry in Europe to which the Catalan Imira Entertainment Production is nominated in the Distributor of the Year category. Voted by Cartoon Forum participants, the winners will be announced on September 14 at the Center de Congrès Pierre Baudis.

With more than a third of the projects selected, France is the country with the greatest presence in the Forum followed by Ireland (8), Belgium (5) and Poland (5). Spain, Finland, Italy and the United Kingdom share fourth place with four projects each.

In terms of trends, animation production aimed at children between 5 and 12 years old continues to be the majority in Europe with half of the projects selected. Altogether, the selected series represent an investment of more than 280 million euros.

Created in 1990 to promote the co-production and distribution of European animation for television and new platforms, Cartoon Forum will bring together around 950 professionals from the sector who will have the opportunity to discover around 470 hours of original content. Since its creation, this event organized by the CARTOON association has helped obtain financing of more than 2.4 billion euros for 706 projects throughout Europe.
