RTVE expands the second animation call of 2024 with four new series

As an extraordinary measure to support animation, and in response to the concern shown by sector associations, RTVE suma cuatro nuevas series a la segunda convocatoria de animación de 2024: ‘Limbo Ville’, ‘Best Friends Forever… Stranded!’, ‘Sissi & Cesar’ y ‘Primeras’.

These projects are added to the three announced a week ago: season 6 of Pocoyo, Antón Piñon and seasons 3 and 4 of Superthings. In addition, the 2025 animation call will be open from September 1 to October 15.

The president of the association of animation producers BACK, Nathalie Martínez, stated that "we very positively value the new strategy proposed by RTVE, its desire for dialogue and its firm commitment to Spanish animation. This new framework of collaboration represents a key step to reinforce quality children's content, the cultural value of our stories and the international projection of Brand Spain. This strategic reinforcement of public television to a more united sector than ever is essential to advance together in its consolidation, both nationally and globally."

23 proposals were submitted to this call, including two new seasons of series already co-produced. For the selection, charismatic characters that generate emotions have been valued; and humor, innocent and simple for the little ones and with references to popular culture for the older ones, with a positive approach and attention to values ​​such as critical thinking, equality, coexistence, healthy habits or environmental protection.

In the first call of 2024, Froggie, Yoko (season 4), Croco Doc (season 3) and Flavorhunters. These calls seek to facilitate the development of new quality products to nourish RTVE's grills. Since 2021 RTVE has selected 28 animated series. Among them, they stand out for their success Momonsters y Samuel, winner of the Pulcinella Awards.

In the last year, RTVE has also participated in several animated feature films aimed at children: Mommonster. The movie, A World of Their Own, Evolution, Superthings, the movie, 200% Wolf. Little Big Wolf, The Light of Aishto. And this year the animated films have been approved The Violinist, Faith, Girl and Wolf y Pirate Mo and the lost ruby and they will be released Barracuda's Treasure y Olivia.
