TV Skyline, first company in Germany to adopt Riedel's new Bolero intercom
Bolero systems integrate seamlessly with Skyline's already installed Artist digital matrix intercom platform to provide comprehensive, flexible, high-quality wireless communications.
The audiovisual services company TV Skyline has become the first client of Riedel in Germany adopting the new Bolero wireless intercom system. TV Skyline has equipped its OB7 and OB8 mobile units with eight Bolero beltpacks and four Bolero antennas each. Bolero systems integrate seamlessly with Skyline's already installed Artist digital matrix intercom platform to provide comprehensive, flexible, high-quality wireless communications for any type of live broadcast or entertainment production.
Launched earlier this year to widespread industry acceptance, Bolero is a fully roaming, scalable DECT-based intercom system in the license-free 1.9 GHz frequency range. It features Riedel's exclusive Advanced DECT Receiver (ADR) technology, specifically designed to reduce sensitivity to multipath RF reflections, making the system usable in difficult RF environments where other systems may struggle.
Laurent Schiltz, CTO of TV Skyline, acknowledges that "with Bolero, we finally have a wireless communications system that we can recommend to our broadcast clients with complete confidence. In recent productions, Bolero has provided exceptional and highly reliable performance, even from difficult positions by the production team. And because Bolero is fully integrated with Artist, we can configure wired or wireless communications quickly and anywhere and control everything with the Director software or via web GUI."
The signals from the Bolero beltpacks are transmitted by decentralized antennas connected to AES67 switches. The switches are then connected to truck frames equipped with AES67 client cards, providing a fully integrated point-to-point intercom ecosystem with seamless roaming capabilities.
TV Skyline's OB7 mobile unit is the company's flagship as it has the possibility to produce with up to 22 cameras and 32 workstations. As for the OB8 mobile, it is dedicated to Ultra High Definition (UHD) production with 30 cameras.
Olivier Görts, director of broadcast sales at Riedel, highlights that "in just a few months, Bolero has revolutionized the industry. TV Skyline is one of the most innovative production service providers in Europe, and its fleet of HD mobile units is well known for offering the most advanced and highest quality broadcast technologies. The first Bolero installation in Germany is a true milestone and further indicative of the speed with which the system is being adopted by the industry's biggest names in production. live.”
