Canon ME20F-SHN: a multipurpose IP camera for extreme lighting situations
Equipped with a 2.26-megapixel 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor and a DIGIC DV 4 processor, the ME20F-SHN allows you to record clear, low-noise Full HD color video in extremely low-light situations.
Canon has expanded its range of multipurpose cameras with the launch of the new ME20F-SHN, an IP video camera designed to work in low light conditions. The ME20F-SH family, the ME20F-SHN, provides incredible low-light performance, networking, and built-in video analytics, all in a compact, lightweight body.
Equipped with a 2.26-megapixel 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor and a DIGIC DV 4 processor, the ME20F-SHN allows you to record clear, low-noise Full HD color video in extremely low-light situations. The sensor pixels and readout circuitry use exclusive Canon technologies to achieve both low noise and highly exceptional sensitivity. With an ISO of over 4 million (+75 db), enabling extraordinary low-light sensitivity, the ME20F-SHN can capture subjects illuminated with less than 0.0005 lux. You can even capture more detail in low-light environments by disabling the IR blocking filter when recording in infrared mode.
As with the Canon EOS Cine range, this network camera features Canon Log and Wide DR in the CP (Custom Picture) menu, enabling a wide dynamic range of up to 12 stops (800%) to provide high-quality images in a wide range of lighting conditions. The CP menu has been updated, adding the Crisp Img function, which achieves sharp images in well-lit environments and low-noise images in low-light conditions. These features are very valuable for users who need to capture clear and precise images.
With connections for Ethernet, 3G/HD-SDI and HDMI, the ME20F-SHN is compatible with a wide variety of video formats, depending on users' needs. For local monitoring, the ME20F-SHN has 3G/HD-SDI and HDMI connections, while the Ethernet connection allows both remote control of camera settings, as well as monitoring and recording through Internet browsers, mobile devices or other video management software. The microSD card slot allows you to record and play back images directly from a microSD card. To facilitate cost-effective, unmanned surveillance, the 6 built-in video analytics functions and Alarm I/O interface automatically record and send images to external equipment, triggered by video motion detection and alarm input (when installed in video surveillance environments).
With the Area-specific Data Size Reduction (ADSR) function, the ME20F-SHN allows you to capture even the smallest details in the selected area of interest, while reducing bit rates in the rest of the image to save network bandwidth. For easier integration into existing video surveillance systems, the ME20F-SHN is compatible with a wide range of video management software, via Canon WebView and ONVIF protocols.
Operators will be able to select the ideal lens for each type of recording and each piece of equipment, taking into account aspects such as focal length and luminosity level. Featuring an EF mount with Cinema Lock, the ME20F-SHN is compatible with a wide range of lenses from the Canon range, including zoom lenses, prime lenses and Cine Servo lenses for greater control. With PoE+ compatibility, data transmission over Ethernet and power supply are provided via a single LAN cable, facilitating quick and easy camera installation. Its compact and lightweight body is invaluable for users who need both a fixed and portable camera.
