Sony HDC-P1: new multipurpose Full HD camera

With three 2/3” Full HD sensors, Sony presents a compact and lightweight camera to cover a wide range of applications, including stereoscopic productions.

The new HDC-P1 from Sony draws attention because it combines three 2/3” Full HD sensors and one
Dual turrets of servo-controlled optical filters in a compact, lightweight design, providing excellent image quality and unmatched performance.

With similar features to the rest of Sony's HDC studio camera series, the new camera is ideal for a range of HD applications in hard-to-reach, operator-free locations, including stadiums, conference rooms, remote live cameras (panoramic shots) or schools. It is also ideal for use on robotic pedestals in automated television studios. Its small size makes it the right choice for 3D applications as it allows two cameras to be mounted on any 3D rig, providing all the advantages of HDC studio cameras in a much smaller and lighter format.

Andy Hotten, product manager for live production products, said: "This camera meets the need to combine high-resolution images with great versatility of use, and the added ability to be able to place the camera in previously inaccessible locations. As HD productions become more complex and the number of camera angles increases, demand grows for flexible, multi-use products such as the HDC-P1, which offers image quality comparable to that of the highest-end studio cameras."

High sensitivity

Los 3 CCDs de 2/3″ y 2,2 millones de píxeles de la HDC-P1 proporcionan una sensibilidad de F11 a 1080/50i. Permite seleccionar entre varios formatos de trabajo como 1080/50i., 59.94i y 720/50P, 59.94P, y otros disponibles mediante actualizaciones de software como 23.98PsF, 24PsF, 25PsF, y 29.97PsF (éstos estarán disponibles en verano de 2010). La cámara es además compatible con la gama actual de paneles de control de las cámaras de la familia HDC, facilitando así su integración en un sistema de control multicámara.
