Sony will present at IBC 2014 the new shoulder camera, PXW-X500 with solid state memory, which follows the line of its successful predecessor, the PMW-X500.

The new model has three 2/3" CCD sensors. Due to its design, the camera is designed for 1080p capture in both fiction production and news or sports productions.

Sony PXWX500The PXW-X500 offers a wide range of traditional and new recording formats, including SD formats such as MPEG IMX and DVCAM, HD formats such as MPEG-4 SStP and MPEG HD422, plus XAVC Intra 4:2:2 1080 59.94/5oi and XAVC Long 4:2:2 1080 59.94/50p. Starting in early 2015, the new camcorder will also offer Apple ProRes and Avid DNxHD recording options.

The three newly developed 2/3” Power HAD FX CCD sensors produce high-quality images and high signal-to-noise ratio (60dB), while maintaining high levels of sensitivity (F11 at 1080/59.94i and F12 at 1080/50i).

The PXW-X500 offers powerful slow and fast motion. Thanks to the XAVC codec, the highest frame rate can reach 1080/120p, five times the normal frame rate of 23.98p. This performance is achieved thanks to newly developed CCD sensors.

The PXW-X500 has a built-in wireless module that allows it to be operated from compatible Wi-Fi devices such as tablets or smartphones, via the USB wireless module, IFU-WLM3. In addition, it is possible to generate lightweight proxy video files on the optional SD card, whose functions are offered by the CBK-WA100 wireless adapter for other cameras. Early next year, the wireless module will be able to transmit proxy content via Wi-Fi or LTE (Long Term Evolution).

The new camcorder also allows the input of external signals, Pool-feed, 3G/HD/SD-SDI and supports simultaneous recording of two SxS cards. For studio operations, it can be used with the CA-FB70 or CA-TX70 adapters.
