12G single-link connectivity and new additional video processing resources are some of the improvements that Ross introduces to its range of Acuity mixers.

Acuity

Ross Video has provided one of its flagship mixers, Acuity, with important improvements such as 12G single-link connectivity and additional video processing resources.

Acuity engines are built with a modular input and output matrix, to easily swap compatible I/O cards together in a single chassis allowing customize the mixer so that it works as if it were hybrid-IP, a signal processing hub or a UHD mixer with 12G capacity.

Acuity's new 12G multi-processing input module is a 20-input card that adds 12G sinle-link connectivity (on every fourth input) and provides independent input signal management functions. Having 12G SDI single link offers many advantages during an HD to UHD migration beyond the obvious reduction in cabling.

One of these advantages is having Full video processing on each input. Each connector on the input module has dedicated processing amplifiers and color correctors, ensuring consistent appearance between sources and freeing up the mixer's internal resources.

On the other hand, it allows you to manage sources without time and varied formats. The independent resources on each card They ensure that non-broadcast devices, external sources, and downstream equipment match the system time and video format of the production.

It's also important to note that older 1080P devices use a different 3G SDI rate than modern equipment. The Acuity 12G multi-processing input module ensures that all 1080P 3G signals are compatible with your production.

Acuity now allows SD and HD sources to be incorporated into UHD productions. In mixed signal environments, the 12G MultiProcessing input module can convert SD/720p/1080i signals to 1080p internally to UHD.

Each input supports HDR conversion and SDR sources can be assigned to the same profile as HDR sources for a simple processing path in HDR productions.

In UHD Quad Link mode, Acuity operates via the 2SI UHD interconnect method. For legacy equipment that only operates in QSD (Quad Square Division), the Acuity 12G MultiProcessing Input Module can convert QSD inputs to 2SI format for use in your production.

Lastly, each input module is built with a 20-input MultiViewer which can be sent to any output in the system or included in other MultiViewers based on video processors.

Nigel Spratling, vice president of production switchers and video servers at Ross Video, points to clear customer demand as the reason for this improvement. “Mobile production operators have been asking for a solution that allows them to produce UHD content better than Quad Link, so we are implementing 12G in our flagship production switcher to directly support it.”
