The Malaga Festival announces the Spanish Screenings – Málaga de Cine 2018

Registration to participate in this international platform for the promotion of Spanish cinema that will take place from April 17 to 19 in Malaga is open until March 9.

For the second consecutive year, Malaga will host the Spanish Screenings – Málaga de Cine, one of the great events of the film industry in our country. This twelfth edition will take place on April 17, 18 and 19 within the framework of 21st Malaga Festival and will be organized by the Festival itself and the Malaga City Council, with the sponsorship of the ICAA (Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts); ICEX Spain Export and Investment, Junta de Andalucía and EGEDA (Audiovisual Producers' Rights Management Entity).

This event, for which registration is now open until March 9, is designed as international platform for the promotion of Spanish cinema. Its main objective is to promote international sales of our cinema and it has managed to position itself as an essential event in the calendar of international markets.

During the three-day market, international buyers, sales agents and festival programmers will have the opportunity to view the latest feature films. Likewise, producers and the most prominent representatives of the audiovisual sector will have a business space called Industry Club enabled for negotiation, sales and networking of participating companies.

The Spanish Screenings – Málaga de Cine are the central project of the new Industry Zone of the Malaga Festival, the MAFIZ (Málaga Festival Industry Zone), which is made up of six events that promote the financing, co-production, distribution and sale of cinema in Spanish. The support and promotion of new Latin American audiovisual talent is the transversal objective of this broad industrial area, which has the sponsorship and support of FIPCA (Ibero-American Federation of Cinematographic and Audiovisual Producers).

Spanisg Screenings Activities

Among the activities that will be carried out are:

– Screenings: screening sessions at the Yelmo Vialia Málaga cinemas, where international buyers will be able to view recently produced Spanish films (starting in the last quarter of 2017), as well as films selected in the Official Selection ZonaZine section of the Málaga Festival.

– Industry Club: meeting space, intended for producers, international distributors and participants in general.

– Videoteca online: Online platform for viewing films by international buyers. There will also be a physical space enabled with electronic devices that allow viewing in the Industry Club.
