The Short Film Week of the Community of Madrid celebrates its twentieth anniversary

The contest wanted to count on its professional forum with representatives of the Sundance and the Berlinale festival. For its part, Romania will be the guest country of this 20th edition.

One more year, the Community of Madrid launches the week of the short film. This year, the festival celebrates two decades, and to celebrate this milestone, it is created 20 years in short, a section of the contest full of activities that will celebrate the tour of the world of short film in these years.

As always, the axis of the week, which will be held from April 9 to 15, will be the competitive section. The participating short films will opt for the Madrid Awards in Short, the Telemadrid/the other awards and the distinctions granted by professional entities.

Based the values of cinematography, disseminate among the Madrid public the artistic importance of the short industry and be the meeting point for professionals in the sector are the fundamental objectives of the short film week. The festival has 3 main axes. On the one hand, the official section and the information sessions. 32 short films produced in 2017 will be projected that have had the help of the Community of Madrid. These shorts, some of them absolute premieres will participate in the competitive section. In parallel, the festival will be transferred to 68 municipalities of the Community of Madrid, in which informative sessions will be held.

Another of the events to highlight this week is the celebration of the first professional short film forum. This initiative, which was born in 2017 to bring together professionals in the sector, grows in 2018, including activities to promote the collaboration and generation of new projects, including, presentation (pitching) of projects for their co -production and distribution; Meeting of actors and directors; International meetings with the guest festivals (Sunday and Berlinale) and with the guest country, Romania.

Among the training activities are workshops and talks about new technologies, production, script, other “short” formats, image, sound and direction.

The Fine Arts and the Alcalá 31 cinema will be central headquarters of the projections and activities, which will also be carried out in spaces of more than 68 Madrid municipalities.
