Quicklink celebrates twenty years in the broadcast industry

This month of May, Quicklink celebrates 20 years on the market. In this time, it has become an industry leader in providing remote production hardware, software and cloud solutions (REMI) to more than 800 customers worldwide.

Initially, Quicklink was established with the idea of ​​building a encoder for BBC and ABC News to cover the Iraq War, which provided the world's first field broadcast. This particular encoder was built in Quicklink's first workplace, a garden shed, which the BBC aptly dubbed 'The Green Room'.

Quicklink was one of the pioneers in broadcast software on a personal computer and the Quicklink Laptop Newsgathering software (LNG) was completely revolutionary in its day. This was soon followed by the first commercial software for macOS and Windows for streaming video and audio in real time from a remote location in the field.

Over the past 20 years, Quicklink has continued growing and innovating, and has received a series of distinguished awards, entre ellos el Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation, el Emmy Award for Technology & Engineering y otros premios específicos del sector.

The British company now has its sede a Swansea (United Kingdom) and expanded to the United States in 2021 with the opening of a Hackensack office (New Jersey).

From what began as an idea of ​​building an encoder to cover the Iraq war, to becoming a world-leading provider of remote production solutions, we are enormously proud of what Quicklink has been able to achieve in its 20 years of existence."

Since its creation in 2003, Quicklink has provided solutions to the world's leading media companies such as BBC, ABC, Aljazeera, CNN, Bloomberg, COMCAST, CBS, France Télévisions, Red Bull Media House...

Reed adds that “a key factor in achieving this special anniversary is our commitment to building exceptional relationships and collaboration with both customers and partners.”

Quicklink will celebrate these 20 years with several industry events throughout the year, including the IBC Show in Amsterdam (September 15-18), NAB Show New York (October 25-26) and SATIS Expo in Paris (November 15-16).
