Tedial proposes an end-to-end IMF solution to the media industry
At a time when the IMF format is accelerating its implementation, Tedial proposes a solution capable of receiving IMFs, modifying them or even creating them from scratch and distributing them.
A new product and the opening of a new line of business mark the presence of Tedial in this NAB 2018.
Regarding the solution, at a time when the IMF format is accelerating its implementation, Tedial proposes a solution capable of receiving IMFs, modifying them or even creating them from scratch and distributing them.
Being full end-to-end IMF, Tedial's proposal supports the IMF format from the beginning to the end of the workflow.
Esther Mesas, sales and marketing director at Tedial, emphasizes that “we can now receive IMF, edit it (since we have developed an IMF editor) and distribute IMF in any type of online content reception and distribution.”
Furthermore, Tedial's solution allows you to create IMF from different separate files (audio, video...), creating an IMF package with the desired specifications.
"In a way it is what we could call a hyper-IMF since we can receive it, modify it, create it from scratch and distribute it. At Tedial, we go one step further," acknowledges Mesas. And although the SMPTE specifies the JPEG2000 format, the Andalusian company offers the client the opportunity to use another video format that they want to put within the IMF.
"With this solution, we are pioneers in the development of an end-to-end IMF solution, already installed and tested by a Hollywood major. Netflix, for example, has already standardized that all material received must be IMF, which is why in the United States it is very important to be prepared for the take-off of the IMF, as it will soon be in other territories such as Europe," stated Esther Mesas.
Smartlive
Another of Tedial's novelties at this fair is Smarlive, a solution that aims to revolutionize the production of live sports. Its unique development marries Artificial Intelligence (AI) with an innovative metadata engine to bring the back office and files closer than ever.
This tight integration supports a greater number of highlights, during or after an event, and allows a specific story to be delivered to a target audience across multiple platforms, including social media, increasing the potential for significant growth in fan engagement.
Smartlive simplifies event preparation by capturing equipment data, events and statistics, automatically creating an event within its metadata engine. Simultaneously, it automatically creates the corresponding log sheets, player lineups and different video sources for the event. All of these preparations are linked and organized into collections, so an entire season of sporting events can be automatically prepared in advance.
This solution is agnostic to any sport and any data provider, Smartlive's powerful metadata engine can be easily configured to create an automatic metadata ingestion process and address demanding and complex sports workflows.
Tedial's new proposal directly connects content to Artificial Intelligence engines: video and audio recognition can be leveraged to generate location data and annotate live media proxies across multiple camera or location inputs.
During events, all PAM event data is ingested in its native format, automatically augmenting proxy logs, and the system can be configured to automatically create clips based on logged actions, keywords, or moments. Once created, these highlights can be automatically posted to social media or passed into workflows that improve performance. These highlights can be relative to a single event, a particular star player, or an entire season.
Smartlive dramatically increases the usefulness of the MAM GUI interface, bringing MAM much closer to live production than ever before. It is 100% compatible with PAM providers such as SAM or EVS, making it the perfect tool to orchestrate all business processes on top of an existing PAM, including the use of historical files in live production. You can then manage the media lifecycle or media mobility between different sites.
Furthermore, it not only brings historical archives into live PAM records in the format that a PAM can use immediately, but also reduces production preparation time and allows broadcasters, rights holders, clubs and federations to significantly increase the number of highlights created during or after sporting events with fewer staff thanks to its automatic highlighting engine and the integration of artificial intelligence. More content published means more income.
At NAB, Tedial is demonstrating automatic highlight creation with Smartlive, its integration with AI engines, as well as speech-to-text integration by annotating incoming live media with technology partner Speechmatics and automatic publishing functionality with technology partner Tellyo.
Esther Mesas has commented that "the market is responding with great expectation to this new proposal from Tedial. In this case, a solution for the production of live events, with automation and creation of highlights and sending to social networks. Thanks to SmartLive, along with live production we are automatically creating highlights for immediate publication on social networks from anywhere, even outside the venue where the sports competition takes place."
