By aggregating multiple virtualized technologies into a single ecosystem, Digital Media Hub allows a live feed to be treated in multiple ways to create cross-platform content.

Globecast Digital Media Hub

In IBC 2017, Globecast will launch its new suite of services Digital Media Hub to sporting and live events. When adding multiple virtualized technologies in a single ecosystem, this solution allows a live source to be treated in multiple ways to create content suitable for cross-platform use, both in real time and for later use.

Live streaming can be used for linear broadcast or broadcast to live platforms of the rights holder's choice, including social media or websites. Using the same live feed, content can be manually or automatically cropped, edited, metadata attached, and shared in either short or long form. For example, highlight clips can be quickly shared on social media to maximize viewer engagement or packages created for OTT platforms.

All edited content (both short and long-form) is made available through our new Marketplace Platform in multiple formats/different sizes, including broadcast quality, and is marked using customer guidelines. This platform facilitates the exchange of content between any relevant party, including the sale of that content, in seamless transactions. All of these services can be easily monitored throughout the process using our digital monitoring tool.

Digital Media Hub has been developed in collaboration with several rights holders who have already used these services.

Globecast will also show its distribution of content over the public Internet, GCXN. In the latest version, Globecast has expanded the flexibility of the service through additional connectivity options at customer premises. Customers can use NetInsight technology supplied by Globast, or can now use OEM alternatives. Additionally, traders can now also access GCXN via the cloud using a virtual Internet transport application.

GXCN has also been updated with a new multi-acquisition capability, allowing customer connection through two ISPs simultaneously, providing a significantly improved level of redundancy.

Customers can confidently entrust GCXN with their core broadcast-quality monitoring, disaster recovery and distribution services. They can reach new audiences with secure and robust transport over the public Internet for content distribution. There is a growing GCXN community consisting of ISPs and cable operators, allowing broadcasters to increase their reach easily and cost-effectively.
