The Spanish audiovisual services company Tilt has updated the audio technology in its largest mobile unit. It is a mobile unit with 16 cameras that has four systems EVS and a mixer and matrix Grass Valley. The recent update included the installation of a console Calrec Artemis along with its Hydra 2 audio networking technology. The intercom system has also been improved. Riedel, including a system MediorNet for signal transport.

Tilt needed a control system easy-to-use, flexible and, above all, economical router, allowing easy cross-point switching on the Hydra 2 network to route the correct feeds to the EVS systems. Therefore, it opted for the Routemaster control solution from Rascular.

Jaume Bordoy, CEO of Tilt, said: "Our customers, especially those in the sports sector, increasingly need to be able to access a wide variety of audio sources, for example to record additional atmosphere or quickly switch from one interview to another. To free up audio operators, operators who are controlling EVS systems can simply use the control panels Blackmagic to easily route sources due to the functionality provided by RouteMaster. Operators find it very easy to learn and use and it is much more cost-effective and flexible than alternative router control technologies. “We are very happy with it and are now looking to expand its use.”

For its part, Ephraim Barrett, director of sales at Rascular, states that "RouteMaster is a very flexible solution when it comes to precise and easy control of the router, especially in fast-paced environments. Because it works with so many protocols including NDI of NewTek with the latest version also supporting tie-line allowing routing systems to be easily mixed and matched. This means that updates, like the one Tilt has just carried out, are possible with maximum flexibility.”
