It also chooses Cobalt's processor for HDR/SDR conversion for its new 'Symphony' production unit.

UM High End

High End TV, a leading American production company for the production of high-profile entertainment events, has leveraged the card-based platform Cobalt Digital for solutions HDR and multi-screen conversion of 4K HDR signals in its latest mobile unit.

The UM Symphony It is fully designed with technology HDR 4K and will unfold with the Multiviewer 9971-MV6-4K and the procesador HDR 9904-UDX-4K from Cobalt Digital.

Adam Mills, president of High End TV, states that "people want 4K and they want HDR. Cobalt's 4K Multiviewer HDR solution also has the TSL and HDMI protocol built into the same card, making it the perfect product to drive what I would say is the best monitor wall out there. This truck is built to be future-proof first, and capable of shooting at full 4K performance."

Symphony is equipped with 4K cameras and a 60-input HDR video wall, leading Mills to look for solutions that can support the higher level of image quality offered by advanced formats. “There were other manufacturers that supported 4K input, but only 1080p output,” he explains. "Cobalt had the only solution that takes the 12G HDR signals in and the 12G HDR signals out. Now customers don't have to trust that we are shooting in 4K and recording in HDR."

OpenGear

Mills chose Cobalt's 9971-MV6-4K 12G/6G/3G/HD/SD UHD multi-display to drive the video wall in the Symphony unit.

Mills also noted that the 9971-MV6-4K allows users to view the multiscreen in full resolution even if the production is not shooting in 4K, a feature he particularly likes. "You can have a 4K consumer monitor coming out of HDMI with 1080p inputs and a quarter of that screen shows you all the 1080p lines. Once you see that, everything else is blurry," he explains.

“The 9971-MV6-4K along with the 9904-UDX-4K from Cobalt are two innovative products that make Symphony an exceptional achievement,” he adds.

Chris Shaw, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Cobalt, highlights that "Symphony from High End TV is a very exciting project for Cobalt Digital. Adam Mills really understands the differentiating features and functionality that make our Multiviewer and HDR converter stand out from the competition."

High End TV also selected Cobalt's 9904-UDX-4K for SDR/HDR and HDR/SDR conversion. The card includes the Intelligent Tone Management (ITM) technology, as well as its single layer HDR (SL-HDR) technology that allows operators to eliminate the need for any standalone box and its associated high costs per input.
