Dubai's Citruss World of Shopping improves its broadcast with Ursa Broadcast cameras

The satellite channel adopts Blackmagic Design solutions such as Ursa Broadcast, ATEM Camera Control Panel and ATEM 4 M/E Broadcast Studio 4K.

Dubai Satellite TV Channel Citruss World of Shopping has implemented a solution for productions and live broadcasts of 4K content with devices Ursa Broadcast, ATEM Camera Control Panel y ATEM 4 M/E Broadcast Studio 4K of Blackmagic Design.

In order to continue expanding and improving production capabilities, the television channel has moved its studio to a larger space in Dubai Studio City. He 4K broadcast control and two new studios were designed around a 12G SDI infrastructure thanks to integration systems United Broadcast & Media (UBMS).

The Citruss channel has daily broadcasts through Nilesat, Arabsat and MBC4. In addition, he films between eight and nine segments a day for different products in either of the two studios equipped with Ursa Broadcast cameras and Blackmagic Studio Viewfinder viewers.

Amr Moustafa, head of broadcasts and productions at Citruss, points out that “as a shopping channel, it is essential that our products are adequately represented on the screen, whether it is ensuring that the colors look real or demonstrating their unique commercial proposition.”

"After meetings with UBMS, we decided that the Ursa Broadcast model was the right option. We were impressed by how easy the cameras are to operate and the level of detail we can achieve, in addition to its very competitive price," he adds.

The popular Blackmagic cameras have been complemented on this occasion with 4K lenses from Fujinon.

“We have five in studio A and three in studio B. They are very versatile and we can place them in different places such as on a pedestal or on cranes, as well as record with them on the shoulder to demonstrate kitchen products, for example.”

Signal distribution

The organization of the signals is carried out in a matriz Smart Videohub 12G 40×40, while an ATEM 4 M/E Broadcast 4K mixer is used in the broadcast gallery. On the other hand, they have an ATEM Camera Control Panel device to balance the shadows.

"At Citruss we offer a unique, multi-channel sales method. Our viewers have the option to purchase by simply sending a screenshot on WhatsApp, using our app or making a call. We need to properly combine all the details and prices in the information overlaid during each segment. Although it is worth noting that, thanks to the digital visual effects, lower thirds and on-screen graphics of the mixer, it is a very simple task," explains Moustafa.

"As a pioneer in the MENA shopping channel, we were at a crossroads. Not only did we require more space, but we also needed to change our SD workflow and upgrade it to 4K. Thanks to Blackmagic Design and the collaboration of UBMS, we have managed to redesign the entire system from scratch and install a solution that guarantees our commitment to continue offering the best possible visual experience," concludes Amr Moustafa.
