The final of the S. Pellegrino Young Chef Academy comes to YouTube with URSA Broadcast cameras
The grand finale of the contest S. Pellegrino Young Chef Academy was produced by STS Communication with multiple cameras Blackmagic URSA Broadcast.
The producer STS Communication, a specialist in streaming broadcasts, was in charge of all aspects related to the set design and the technical production of the culinary event. The ten finalist chefs, who were selected from the 135 young participants from 12 regions of the world, competed to convince the jury with their signature dish.
The activity on the stage was recorded with the assistance of four cameras URSA Broadcast with objectives Canon 22x and H17x, and viewfinders Blackmagic URSA Studio Viewfinder. In addition, a PTZ camera remotely managed in order to show the dishes presented to the jury. The sensitivity of the sensor to light was controlled and adjusted remotely using a unit ATEM Camera Control Panel, to ensure that the parameters remained constant during production. The operator used a combination of monitors SmartView 4K y SmartScope Duo 4K to preview the images.
Likewise, a setup based on suspended fiber optics helped keep the stage clear. Along with a device Blackmagic Studio Fiber Converter, facilitated the sending of the isolated signal from each camera to the central production board. The program was then generated with a live production switcher ATEM Constellation 8K and the model ATEM 1 M/E Advanced Panel. In addition, two signs SDI for lower thirds and an HD graphic playback signal to the production board via QLab.

The main signal was then sent in 1080p50 to the integration system for the YouTube by S. Pellegrino and the LED monitors arranged in the auditorium and connected by fiber optics. The progressive output of the mixer was converted to an interlaced signal for the venue's audiovisual system using a standards converter. Teranex OFF.
Alberto Azzola, founder of STS Communication, believes that Blackmagic solutions were key to the success of the production: "Given the complexity and high-pressure environment of the event, we needed a compact and flexible solution, capable of transmitting the competition to the audience in their homes without problems and that, at the same time, did not distract the finalists. By using a workflow focused on Blackmagic teams, we were able to live up to our client's ambitious expectations, provide extraordinary quality content and honor the art of cooking.”
