The Film Academy, IBAFF 2019 Honorary Award
The Murcia International Film Festival (IBAFF) will present the Honorary Award of its tenth edition, which will be presented on March 9, to the Film Academy.
He Murcia International Film Festival (IBAFF) will grant the Honorary Award from its 10th edition to Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Spain. This recognition, which highlights film personalities with a particular vision of understanding cinema, will be presented during the closing gala on March 9.
The IBAFF has decided to grant its honorary award to the Academy "because in recent times it has shown that it does not want to remain outside of any of the debates that have been shaking audiovisual production. For its manifest intention of wanting to seek answers - positioning itself as filmmakers, as a collective and as an Academy -, and for developing new projects that generate new viewers and educational initiatives that preserve the memory of our cinema and help its dissemination abroad."
"We are very grateful for this award, which is a recognition of the work of all the people who make up this Academy. From the academics to the employees, our conviction is that an institution like ours must bring together, create a community and do everything possible so that our group is united and at the forefront," he stated. Mariano Barroso, president of the institution.
The Film Academy thus joins an illustrious list of winners that includes filmmakers Majid Majidi, Abbas Kiarostami, Pere Portabella and Lucrecia Martel; the Italian cinematographer Vittorio Storaro; the screenwriter Jean-Claude Carrière and the French magazine Trafic ex aequo; the Portuguese Cinematheque; the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) and the magazine Caimán Cuadernos de Cine.
