Kaltura announced in the prelude to IBC 2019 that its technology Kaltura Cloud TV is supporting the launch of Vodafone TV in Greece, Romania and Portugal, joining Spain and Italy.

The service is a multi-country television service that is based on a single common cloud-based platform that allows Vodafone OpCos launch Vodafone's market-leading television service in their respective countries. As Kaltura introduces service improvements, new features and innovation to the global Vodafone TV service, they become readily available to all markets. With the single cloud-based platform, the rollout of Vodafone TV in a new country now takes just seven months to launch.

Ron Yekutiel, co-founder, president and CEO of Kaltura, highlights that "it is an honor to continue our long partnership with Vodafone and see how Vodafone TV is scaling to meet all the television needs of new markets around the world. Our shared vision with Vodafone of aggregating all the linear, VOD and OTT content that consumers want in a unified and personalized television experience on all screens is coming to life."

Vodafone TV is the world's most advanced multi-user cloud TV service, with continuous innovation, new features and a growing footprint. The service is setting a new standard in the world of cloud TV functionality, with advanced capabilities such as deep connection to third-party OTTs and other local content sources in each country, as well as a unique “kids mode” enabled at the set-top box level.

Wolfgang Zeller, director of Vodafone's Video Center of Excellence, comments that "Vodafone TV is demonstrating that by combining the reliability, security and scalability of pay TV with the agility, economics and functionality of OTT, telcos can launch competitive cloud TV services at scale. We wanted to be the first off the blocks with a new genre of cloud-based TV service that could be replicated and launched in Vodafone's new markets easily and cost-effectively."

“With Kaltura we were able to bring to market a next-generation cloud TV solution that was faster, more cost-effective and, most importantly, increased the NPS of our subscribers.” “We are continually impressed by how Kaltura's technology, experience and track record in cloud television accelerate our joint vision for the future of television,” concludes Zeller.
