Riedel has been made known within the framework of IBC 2019 an interesting project by Barça Studios. The production arm of the sports club has installed a MediorNet real-time network that will allow the video resource sharing between Barça Studios (FC Barcelona TV and Media Center) in Sant Just Desvern, on the outskirts of Barcelona; the Camp Nou Stadium in the center of the Catalan capital; and the sports city of the club located in Sant Joan Despí.

The MediorNet network not only connects these points but also facilitates the decentralized signal acquisition, processing and routing between different areas of the stadium using several Riedel MediorNet MicroN and MediorNet Compact PRO units.

MediorNet at Barça StudiosThe configuration of this infrastructure consists of a Compact PRO and nine devices MicroN App-controlled devices equipped with standard and processing applications that handle connectivity between the three locations. The CWDM optical multiplexing It allows the connection between Barça Studios and Camp Nou to operate redundantly over only two dark fibers. Five of the MicroN devices are used in the stadium: one on the field, one in the television complex, data processing room and video scoreboard control room, and another as a mobile node that can be flexibly placed anywhere in the stadium.

The remaining four MicroN units, also equipped with the applications Standard y Processing, are located in the Barça TV studios and in the sports city.

Xavier Fontoba, Audiovisual Operations Supervisor at Barça Studios, comments that "MicroN's built-in signal processing capabilities allow us to take advantage of the device's built-in keyers/dekeyers, frame synchronization, frame storage, and a timecode generator. The processing application adds color correction in the RGB and YCbCr color spaces, up/down/cross-conversion, and two multi-displays, all of which streamline our workflows and eliminate single devices. purpose.”

For control and operation, Barça Studios uses Riedel's MediorWorks software on its corporate network. For authorized users, 2300-Series SmartPanels loaded with the MediorNet control application also allow signals to be routed directly from the panel.

Adrian Lorenzo, systems consultant for Southern Europe at Riedel, highlights that "ensuring total reliability and flexibility were the biggest challenges of this project. With MediorNet we have been able to offer the perfect solution, providing the essential redundancies that the client needed for their critical live TV and sports production environment."
