City of Madrid Film Office sponsors the training session 'Producing sustainably is possible'
The event will take place within the framework of Another Way Film Festival, the film festival on sustainable progress in Madrid, which will take place from October 24 to 27.
Another Way Film Festival, the Madrid film festival on sustainable progress, celebrates its fifth edition under the motto Sometimes it is up to a generation to make history. It will take place from October 24 to 27 in Cineteca Madrid, Spanish Film Archive and Sala Equis.
Among its parallel activities, in this edition the festival welcomes as a novelty the day of Training for committed filmmakers: Producing sustainably is possible, organized by Fiction Changing the World and sponsored by City of Madrid Film Office, a public service of the Madrid City Council dedicated to promoting the city as a filming destination and advising all companies and professionals in the audiovisual sector who wish to develop their projects there.
The event will be held on Saturday October 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Sala Plató of Cineteca Madrid and aims for professionals in the audiovisual sector to acquire the basic knowledge to integrate sustainability criteria into their productions in order to reduce the environmental impact. During the training, you will learn to carry out a production design that minimizes the negative impact and maximizes the positive one for both the planet and society, while promoting the economic profitability of the projects.
The experiences of production companies and agents in the audiovisual sector that are already working on sustainable practices, seals and certifications will be discussed, such as Fiction Changing the World, creators of the Dante movement to disseminate the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development of the UN through cinema; Fresco Films, a production company that has implemented sustainability measures in international productions such as the Game of Thrones series; Pro-Malaga, organism involved in the development of the seal Green production of the European Union; and Tenerife Film Commission, developers of the decalogue of good practices for sustainable audiovisual productions.
On a voluntary basis, attendees will be able to participate in a contest through which they can implement what they learned during the day, the prize of which will be the production of a campaign for Greenpeace.
Cinema and sustainable progress
The programming of the fifth edition of Another Way Film Festival presents 27 documentary and fiction films and 10 short films among its different sections. The 12 films in the Official Section compete for the Jury Prize consisting of one thousand euros and a week of screening in the mk2 and Cine/Sur cinemas, in addition to the Audience Prize. The 7 titles in the Impact Section also compete to win their own Audience Award.
This year the festival has two new non-competitive sections: Produced in Green, a selection of current films produced with sustainable practices; and Origins, classic and cult cinema where concerns about the environment and sustainability were already incipient.
Among the films presented, one will be a world premiere (The Village and the Wildfire), 9 national premieres (Ghost Fleet, Modern Shepherdess, Après Demain, The Human Element, Breathless, The Chocolate Case, The Dispossessed, Metamorphosis, y Nuclear Neighbour) and 9 premieres in Madrid (When Tomatoes Meet Wagner, Island of the Hungry Ghosts, Welcome to Sodom, Sanctuary, Eating Animals, Genesis 2.0, The Price of Progress, Piripkura, y The Last Animals).
In order to generate a space for interaction and critical thinking, the screenings will include talks on sustainability with experts in different environmental matters, in addition to the participation of related institutions and organizations. The festival completes its program with 13 parallel activities, including the day of Training for committed filmmakers. Throughout them you can enjoy meetings for film professionals and entrepreneurs, yoga masterclasses, live music, experiential and collaborative workshops, children's activities, augmented reality and spaces for literature, poetry and music.
