Madrid Film Office shows Hollywood the possibilities of Madrid as a filming location
Hollywood locators and producers have been able to discover several locations in Madrid as filming locations thanks to the familiarization trip organized by Madrid Film Office and Film Office, filming office of the Community of Madrid.
During four days, seven producers and locators who usually work on projects Marvel Studios, Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros. and other North American production houses and platforms have had the opportunity to see first-hand some of the most prominent locations in the city and the region. For its part, Xiomara García, coordinator of Film Madrid, has also highlighted the work carried out by the Community of Madrid for other success stories, such as Asteroid City, Wes Anderson's latest film, filmed in 2020 in Chinchón and Colmenar de Oreja. The coordinator of Film Madrid has also emphasized the importance of these meetings to “generate trust with international producers and localizers and establish quality contacts for future projects, especially taking into account that a large majority are American and British professionals, the two most powerful industries in the Western audiovisual industry.”
Madrid has established itself in recent years as one of the main content production centers in Europe, with an annual increase in projects filmed in the city. International platforms such as Netflix, HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video or Apple TV+ have set up offices and production centers in the city. This commitment has been reinforced at the national level by platforms and networks such as Movistar+, RTVE, Atresmedia and Mediaset. Thus, in 2022, the city welcomed more than 66 series, 47 movies and 380 ads on average and great size.
