Madrid is promoted at the Marche du Film 2021 (Cannes Festival)

The Madrid City Council, through City of Madrid Film Office, arrives at the Marche du Film 2021, the film market of the Cannes Film Festival.

The filming promotion office participates in person in the section Shooting in Spain coordinated by Spain Film Commission in the physical pavilion Cinema from Spain, organized by ICEX-Invest in Spain and the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA). Around 95 professionals and 50 companies based in Madrid will be present at the Marché du Film, which serves as a platform to give visibility to productions in development and completed, find co-producers and international sales agents, or acquire projects to include in their distribution catalogues.

He Film Market, the audiovisual industry market that takes place in parallel with the Cannes Festival, recovers the in-person format in its 2021 edition with the aim of promoting the reactivation and facilitating the reunion of the sector. The market, which will be held from July 6 to 15, will also maintain the online modality in a complementary manner, facilitating the possibility of participating in the event for companies and professionals who cannot attend due to the mobility restrictions still in force.

Promoting the Madrid industry

From Marche du Film 20201, City of Madrid Film Office will hold meetings with audiovisual producers and professionals with the aim of promoting the city and region as filming locations and highlight the Madrid audiovisual industry. In addition, it will be present at events of networking and presentations from different countries in order to contribute to the development of contacts and professional networks.

During the market, they will also promote 10 feature film projects in development promoted by creators and/or production companies from Madrid and that are in the search phase for international partners. The projects have been selected among the beneficiaries of the Aid for the Development of Audiovisual Projects of the Community of Madrid and the participants in the Residency program of the Film Academy, supported by the Madrid City Council.

Five projects have been selected from the Film Academy Residencies: Delivery by Pau Teixidor with production by Aqui and There Films; Notes for a consented fiction by Ana Serret with production by Tandem Films and Atiende Films; With you, with you and without me by Amaya Villar and the production of Potenza Producciones; half of Ana by Marta Nieto with production by Avalon P.C.; and Last night I conquered Thebes by Gabriel Azorín with the participation of the Madrid production company Dvein Films.

Madrid productions in Cannes

The Cannes Film Festival will have the participation of three films produced in Madrid in its various sections: Freedom by Clara Roquet with production by Avalon P.C. which will have its world premiere within the framework of Critics' Week; the animated short film The Windshield Wiper by Alberto Mielgo (Pinkman. TV), present at the Directors' Fortnight; and the restored version of the 1964 film The Way by the Madrid director Ana Mariscal, which will be revived in the Cannes Classics section.

Another 20 titles from recent projects with the participation of Madrid production companies will be presented in the market's online and/or in-person screenings aimed at international buyers: 9 Sevilles (Elamedia Studios), Dear Werner (Llanero Films), Life was that (Lolita Films, Mediaevs, Magnetica, Smiz & Pixel), Ego (La Caña Brothers), love in dust (Cilantro Films, Nobody is Perfect), Karen (rentalfilms), Lucas (Raw Pictures), The year of discovery (Lacima Productions, Cromagnon Productions), Urubú (Prointel), Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds (Apolo Films), An optical effect (Beware of the Dog P.A.), all the moons (Pris& Batty Films), Or (La Dalia Films), Chavalas (Balance Media), Brooklyn's Sevillanas (Captain Spider, Sin Films), 7 Lakes, 7 Lives (López Li Films), He Cover (Nobody is Perfect P.C.), Full train (Atresmedia Cine, S.L.U.), The Substitute (Litmus) and The Circle (Holidays Films).

Other initiatives present in Cannes will be The passenger by Raúl Cerezo, a production of Persons Films, La Dalia Films, SG Producciones and Eye Slice Pictures; either The End of the World Party y Madrid, Bad Life, made by students from the School of Cinematography and Audiovisual of the Community of Madrid (ECAM), for the new program 2cool4school dedicated to school shorts and the promotion of younger talent.
