The Senior Manager Video Business at Movistar+, Nicolas Lecocq, participated this Wednesday in the 4K-HDR Summit that takes place at the National Digital Content Pole in Malaga. Lecocq has focused his intervention on how high quality original fiction allows the platform to differentiate itself from other operators.

"Before we were a telco, talking about megabytes and gigabytes and now we feel that the original production is changing the focus of our clients. They associate the high quality of the series and it combines very well with Movistar's vision," he stated.

To position the enormous offer in fiction among the audience (last September alone the various platforms and networks have premiered 47 new series in Spain) it is necessary “a honest marketing in terms of differentiating ourselves from competitors, not tiring, positioning us and highlighting an offer that they cannot see anywhere else. Listening to the audience, who highlight that this type of content cannot be found on other platforms and evaluating the results are the keys.”

Nicolas Lecocq at the 4K-HDR SummitAn example of the high quality of fiction production at Movistar+ can be found in To Fish whose second season, shot in 4K, will premiere on the 15th.

“The success of our series in the Spanish market has been accompanied by magnificent acceptance internationally where some have been distributed on platforms such as Hulú, HBO… Specifically, To Fish, has been broadcast on BBC (BBC4), Viasat in Eastern Europe, Sky Germany or in regions such as the Scandinavian countries that usually do not buy products other than English-speaking products,” he commented.

“It is a real pleasure to see that the success of To Fish In Spain it is reproduced internationally,” Lecocq acknowledged.

Finally, the Movistar+ manager stressed that producing in Spain is a luxury given the enormous creative and technical talent of the professionals.
