Disney+ could reach 101 million subscribers in 2025
Five global platforms will have 529 million SVOD subscribers in 2025, according to Digital TV Research forecasts.
Digital TV Research has released its forecasts for the SVOD market in 2015, Disney+ It will be the biggest winner if you take into account that it could reach a total of 101 million subscribers. Netflix will increase by 70 million subscribers, revealing that there is still growth for the most established platform. However, Netflix will only add 6 million subscribers in the United States.
Simon Murray, principal analyst at Digital TV Research, assures that "competition is intense, with several platforms 'reclaiming' content from others and with price wars underway. In addition, there are several exclusive distribution agreements."
The United States is by far the most important country for these platforms, but also the most mature.
Murray goes on to state that “only 29% of Netflix subscribers will be in the United States in 2025. The proportion will be up to 80% for the youngest, HBO Max.”
On the other hand, HBO Max could reach 30 million paying subscribers in 2025. Apple TV+, according to Digital TV Research forecasts, would have 27 million paying subscribers in 2025.
