Onda Cádiz snatches the rights to broadcast the Carnival from Canal Sur
The Executive Board of the Official Competition of Carnival Groups (COAC) of Cádiz grants the broadcasting rights of the 2020, 2021 and 2022 Carnival couplets competition to municipal television.
municipal television Onda Cadiz has taken over the rights to broadcast the Carnival to the detriment of Channel On, which since 1989 has been in charge of bringing the Falla Contest signal to all Andalusian homes.
The Executive Board of the Official Competition of Carnival Groups (COAC) of Cádiz has decided to grant the broadcasting rights of the 2020, 2021 and 2022 Carnival couplet contest to Onda Cádiz, which will mean that any network that wants to have the signal of the 2020 carnival contest will now have to negotiate with it.
From Radio Televisión Andaluza they regret the decision of the COAC to a single operator and not "having valued the advantageous offer that Canal Sur presented in writing on November 21."
“Canal Sur's offer presented improvements in relation to other editions and in no case was delaying the start time of the semifinals and final made a non-negotiable condition and it was only an open proposal for a possible agreement that has not even been valued,” they say from Canal Sur.
The RTVA accepted the initial financial contribution proposed by the COAC Executive Board of 380,500 euros (+VAT), and improved the offer with variables according to audiences. In addition, an annual improvement was offered, for the years 2021 and 2022, of 7,000 euros (the same as in the expired agreement).
They also highlight, among other considerations, the RTVA, as it has been doing regularly through Canal Sur Radio, was committed to providing sound for the contest with the highest quality and transferring the signal to all radio stations that required it.
Now we will have to wait to see if Canal Sur finally reaches an agreement with Onda Cádiz for the transmission from the Gran Teatro Falla.
